For months David Wilson,
49 bitched and moaned about his life. He was hurting for money,
buried in commitments he could not repay without sacrifice. He
took anti-depressants to make it through the day. He asked his
sister to buy a Christmas present for his daughter because he
could not afford to do so. According to Wilson's family he worked
7 days a week and yet the cupboard was bare.
The overwhelming stress
of financial ruin and embarrassment has caused many a man to cowardly
and selfishly take their own life. After leaving home Sunday night
at around 10 the story goes that he just rode around, ending up
at a gas station in Spring Lake where he spent the night in his
truck. The next day, Monday, he supposedly continued his drive
around the Broadway area. Wilson's brother met him at 5:40 Monday
afternoon on Nusery Road between Broadway and Spring Lake. According
to the brother, David Wilson said that he had seen people out
looking for him. Did he know that early Monday morning Wilson's
wife had called the Sheriff to report him missing? What made him
think anyone was looking for him? Wilson's brother, William, also
said that he thought David was under the influence of some sort
of drug. newspaper
article
William Wilson convinced
his brother to come home with him, but prior to them leaving in
separate vehicles David handed his brother his wallet and told
him to give it to his wife. As they drove the few miles from Nursery
Road to Wilson's home on Cameron Street, a deputy passed by and
turned around, pulling in behind David. William did not take much
notice and continued to the house on Cameron. The deputy pulled
David over, David waited until the deputy exited his vehicle and
the sped off in the direction of his home. When he got within
eye sight of his house he again pulled over and this time as the
deputy exited David pulled a pistol from the cab of his truck
and shot himself in the chest. His brother William saw the muzzle
flash and watched helplessly as the truck rolled off the road.
(there is a possibility that Wilson may have shot himself accidentally,
the bullet may have been intended for the deputy - our on
air comments - the entire show can be heard over the internet
in .mp3 format)
David Wilson's death frustrates his family and friends as most
suicides do, but it frustrates the family of Michelle Bullard
more. Had David Wilson just been the weak, overburdened family
man his mourners claim him to be that would be one thing. But
David Wilson had a past filled with bloodshed and violence. David
Wilson was a murderer and that simple fact combined with the same
day coincidental armed robbery, home invasion and disappearance
of Michelle Bullard is reason to speculate a connection.
In 1974 18 year-old
David was drinking at the Sundown Lounge in Cumberland County.
He was kicked out of the bar and before leaving he told Thomas
Corney that he would return to kill him. Shortly after he did
just that, shooting Corney in the face killing him. Before the
cowardly killer could run from the bar he was, in return, shot
by patron, Clarence Jacobs. David Wilson was arrested and charged
with First Degree Murder, his plea to Second Degree Murder was
accepted and in 1975 he was sentenced to 40-60 years in prison.
On September 22,1980
Wilson and another inmate cut thru the fence of the Wagram Prison
in Scotland County and went on the run. On October 6th they were
involved in a high-speed chase in Flint, Michigan, home of Wilson's
sister. The chase continued until Wilson's car crashed, killing
the other escaped prisoner and seriously wounding Wilson. Wilson's
face shows the numerous scars left over from that crash. It is
not known if Wilson was driving, but if he had been driving and
crashed killing an occupant it is possible that Wilson could have
been convicted of First Degree Murder. Death caused while in commission
of a Felony is First Degree Murder.
Somehow Wilson gained
work release, even with numerous infractions such as assault,
a weapons charge, drugs, and of course escape. Equally amazing
is that David Wilson was allowed to be paroled out of prison about
20 years early.
No one outside his
home knows how lawful Wilson was once he gained his freedom from
parole in 2004. No more drug testing, no one to report to. Some
have reported that David had become a drug user, drank quiet a
bit and had a temper. I never knew David Wilson so I will have
to bite my tongue.
I suspect that those
that loved Tookie Williams, the recently executed founder of the
deadly inner-city gang the Crips, a convicted brutal murderer
of 4 innocent people, a man that when asked why he killed particular
victims he was quoted as saying "because they were white",
would have loved David Wilson, the murderer. I wonder how the
family of Thomas Corney felt about David Earl Wilson.
Where is Michelle Bullard?
Stressful
events interfere with achievement of existentially based expectations
or just/fair outcomes. "All manner of positive stimuli"
previously experienced or observed constitute expected goals,
and their frustration leads to "anger, resentment, rage,
dissatisfaction, disappointment, and unhappiness--that is, all
the emotions customarily associated with strain in criminology"
(Agnew 1992). General strain theory claims that actors do not
enter interactions with specific outcomes in mind, only that certain
distributive justice rules will be followed in establishing equitable
relationships. Distress occurs when individuals feel unrewarded
for their efforts compared to the efforts and rewards of similar
others for similar outcomes. The negative emotions associated
with negative relationships may be more successfully handled by
engaging in delinquent behavior than in nondelinquent behavior
(Brezina 1996). source

where did the gun come from
Now you can see why an investigation takes so long. Plus he worked
in one county, lived in another, and the crime scene is in yet
another county. That and the Wilson family's defiant attitude
to accept that he is at least a reasonable suspect given the fact
that they each know he is a cold blooded murderer. One convenient
store near Broadway refused my attempt of getting them to place
a missing poster inside, so perhaps in this small community friends
and family stick together no matter what.
