The police report taken when Kayla was rescued by her grandmother in Michigan. She was arrested for kidnapping and Kayla was rteturned back to North Carolina to live with Carolyn Futrell.

Autopsy report says cause of death was insecticide poisoning.

Kayla died a year later. Kayla's grandmother killed herself out of grief when she heard the news because she had promised Kayla that she would never be hurt again.
