Posted By: Karina CardonaWitnesses say at first it appeared 17-year old
Justin Thompson just accidentally turned into oncoming traffic until he
stepped out of his car. Police found two open bottles of liquor in Thompson’s
car.
He was taken into custody that night, while paramedics took the two other
teens, brothers, to the hospital.
18-year old Kevin Soucey suffered more serious injuries. He was rushed
into surgery that night, and was in critical condition, but today he died
from those injuries.
His death means police will upgrade the charges against Thompson from
intoxication assault to intoxication manslaughter.
Reporter Amy Davis spoke to Thompson’s mother by phone. She was
watching the 6 o’clock news with her son earlier this evening when
they both learned Kevin had died. Thompson is now out of jail on bond.
SAPD Public Information Officer Joe Rios said “it’s unfortunate
this has to happen, but it’ll send a message that it doesn’t
matter who you are, we will prosecute you.”
Teen Dies in Crash, Another Teen Arrested for DWI

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) - A 16 year-old girl was killed when she lost control
of her car on a Fairfax County road Friday night.
Investigators say 16 year-old Lauren Sausville of Fairfax was driving
on Fairfax Station Road near Colchester Road, following a car driven by
a 17 year-old boy when he stopped at a stop sign and waited for her to
catch up. Police say he saw Sausville lose control, drive off the road
and flip her SUV in an embankment.
Sausville was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the 17-year-old
was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. However, they
say his alleged drunken driving does not appear to have caused the crash
that killed the 16-year-old.
Police say speed and alcohol were both factors in Sausville's death, but
are still waiting for the results of toxicology tests.
The name of the other driver has not been released. Sausville was a student
at Fairfax High School.
