




Harper Beall Williams
June 2, 1985 - December 29, 2004
Harper Beall Williams, of Wilmington, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004.
He was born in Wilmington, June 2, 1985, the son of R. Bertram Williams
III and Melanie Beall Williams. He was preceded in death by his maternal
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Harper Beall Jr.
Harper was a Freshman at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
and was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He was a graduate
of New Hanover High School where he was a member of the National Honor
Society and was voted “Best all around” by his classmates.
He received the Student Achiever Award while at New Hanover and was an
Eagle Scout. Harper was active in the First Presbyterian Church Youth
Group and was a member of Young Life and served on the staff of Happening.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing with his friends.
Harper was a gentleman who touched many lives and had an outstanding love
for others.
Harper is the beloved son of R. Bertram III and Melanie Beall Williams
and is survived his brothers, R. Bertram Williams IV of Wilmington and
Bertram Taylor Williams of Belmont, NC; his sister, Ramsay W. Younger
and her husband, Carl, of Raleigh, NC; his paternal grandparents, R. Bertram
Williams Jr. MD and Ellen S. Williams of Wilmington; several aunts and
uncles, Cheri D. Williams of Houston, TX, Mr. and Mrs. J. Harper Beall
III of Lenoir, NC, Mrs. Elizabeth B. Gordon of Laurinburg, NC, Mr. and
Mrs. John B. Beall of Blowing Rock, NC; and many cousins.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2004,
at the First Presbyterian Church by Dr. Ernest Thompson. Interment will
follow at Oakdale Cemetery.
The family will be at their residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church,
125 S. 3rd St., Wilmington, NC 28401 or to the Holy Angels Foundation,
PO Box 710, Belmont, NC 28012.
As you can imagine the service was extremely crowded.
Hundreds of people could not find their way into Oakdale Cemetery and
parked as far away as Market Street.The overwhelming support was a tribute
to a young man that not only reached the hearts of his family but to all
those that knew him. Harper is missed by all.
